The Patched With Care Project is upcycling unwanted textiles into quality bags for children and young people in Care, and we need your help!

Hi, my name is Lucy. 👋 I'm a 3rd year university student at Falmouth University and I'm currently running the Patched With Care Project.

According to research conducted by the National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS), around 4 in 5 children and young people in care are forced to move with their belongings in bin bags.  As a result, 3 in 5 children and young people report their personal belongings being lost or damaged during their move - a heartbreaking reality.

I have created this project to help provide children and young people in care with a quality bag to carry their precious belongings in.  No child or young person should have to carry their life in a flimsy bin bag.

The bags for this project are being made out of old sails and offcuts which otherwise might have ended up in landfill.  These sails have been kindly donated to us by members of the community and businesses, but in order to create these bags we still need to purchase other items such as zips and webbing.  This is where we need your support!  Even a small donation can help us buy the additional items required to make these bags and help provide a child or young person in care with a bag they can keep for life.

Any left over funds will be donated to a local charity.
