Extending our welcome…

As a team and wider Othona community we are working on how best Othona can serve our world in the years to come. This is a work in progress, with plenty of richness and opportunity to explore and ideas to build upon. We have identified some people who we would like to extend our welcome to who would otherwise not be able to enjoy our facilities and community way of life. 

One of these veins we’d like to reach out to is extend our welcome to asylum seekers and refugees, who may not have access to retreat space/green space. 

How can we do this? 

We have a direct connection to a charity called Bristol Hospitality Network who who we are partnering with for this. BHN are 'a member-led organisation, extends solidarity and works equitably with people seeking asylum and experiencing destitution through accommodation and creative community involvement.'

 So, what is our plan? 

BHN will bring their members- Starting small, as a pilot; we are planning to host a group comprising asylum seeking families and children, who are currently based in Bristol. This event will be in April, and we will cook together, garden, walk and play games etc- a lightly held event with plenty of free time and space to settle in and then explore. As well as being beneficial for BHN members, our team and their team one of the aims of this event is to provide some proof of impact for further funding applications and match funding etc- watch this space!

£10 would pay for a breakfast or a lunch

£40 would pay for meals and snacks for the day

£95 would cover a 24 hour stay for an adult 

£150 would cover a three day stay for a child

£285 would cover a three day stay for an adult
