Aim

We desperately need more space at our school! We have sourced a bespoke wooden building that can provide three new classrooms.

About Northleigh House School

Northleigh House School was established in 2012 by retired couple Viv and Fred Morgan who, after being appalled by the story of a schoolgirl who committed suicide, converted their own home into a school for bullied youngsters. Viv and Fred were presented with a Pride of Britain award in 2015.

Northleigh provides a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable secondary school aged children who have dropped out of mainstream education because they have been bullied; or suffer from anxiety and have emotional issues; or because they are on the autistic spectrum. Here at Northleigh they are able to continue their education, whilst receiving any counselling or support they may need to rebuild their shattered self-confidence.

Over the years we have helped over 45 teenagers - and of those, at least 50% had attempted suicide - and we have grown from having 16 students at any one time, to now having 30 full and part-time students. As such we are now rather crowded and would really like some more space - especially as the very foundation of our success is that we provide small class sizes, with no more than 3 students per teacher at any time. It is essential that we continue to provide these small class sizes as all our students respond well to the personalised teaching it enables. Our teachers are able to tailor their lessons and work with the student at a pace that suits them.

Moreover, we have been asked by our local education authority to take younger students and as the main building of our school is really set up for teenagers, we would like to provide a separate classroom that is really geared towards younger children. Our new wooden building would enable us to provide this environment for our new students.
