Join us in upgrading our kitchenette, renewing the Gamer’s Gallery, and replacing essential equipment for our community.
Boardroom Gaming Café was created by people who know first-hand what it feels like to be marginalised. As owners living with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and long-term health challenges, we opened this space because we couldn’t find somewhere that truly felt safe, welcoming, and accessible for everyone.
We have seen the powerful impact gaming can have, whether through board games, tabletop roleplaying, trading card games, or shared play, in helping people connect, communicate, and feel less alone. What began as a small idea has grown into an award-winning, family-run community space, recognised for the positive difference it makes to people’s lives.
Alongside our community activities, we run supported, work-based programmes designed to help individuals who face barriers to employment. These programmes provide a safe, flexible environment where participants can develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, confidence, and responsibility. We also offer practical support including CV guidance, employment preparation, and mentoring, helping people take meaningful steps towards future work or volunteering opportunities.
As we prepare to transition into a Community Interest Company (CIC), we are formally committing to the values we have lived by from day one: inclusion, accessibility, and community wellbeing. This crowdfunder forms an important part of that journey.
Over time, some of our essential equipment has become well-used, and one of our most loved and frequently used rooms is now in need of renovation. This space supports family sessions, neurodiverse-friendly activities, social groups, community-led events, and elements of our supported work programmes. We want to ensure it remains safe, comfortable, and fit for the growing and increasingly complex needs of those who use it.
Our café already makes a wide range of reasonable adjustments to ensure visitors feel supported and at ease. These include sensory-friendly options, PECS cards for non-verbal guests, ear plugs, accessible counter heights, table risers for wheelchair users, flexible seating, and a menu designed to accommodate additional dietary needs, including ARFID. We are also a designated safe space and provide community resources for those who may need additional support.
With your support, we will be able to replace essential equipment, renovate this key room, and further strengthen the inclusive environment we have built together. These improvements will allow us to continue offering affordable and accessible activities while expanding our ability to support families, neurodivergent individuals, and those who may struggle to access traditional social spaces or employment pathways.
Supporting this crowdfunder means investing in more than a physical space. It is an investment in a community-led organisation that prioritises people over profit, connection over isolation, and belonging above all else.
Every contribution helps us continue creating a place where everyone is welcome, exactly as they are.
