Our aim is to raise as much of the target figure as possible to resolve the pandemic related debt, to save our magical little music school.

The Music Boutique is attempting to raise £70,000 to clear pandemic debt
Our Aim
To raise £70,000 to clear pandemic-related rent debt and secure the future of our much-loved music school.
We have now been able to extend the fundraising window due to an anonymous benefactor whom provided us with a loan to cover the pandemic debt which has enable us to stop the clock and our eviction.
However this is a "loan" which we still have to repay.
We still need our community to support and contribute to our Crowdfunder

We have been able to raise just over £20,000 currently form our awesome supporters which we are incredibly grateful to.
So now our focus is trying to raise a further £50,000 and we believe we can with our fantastic families and community of supporters absolutely achieve this and keep this wonderful unique little school open for future tiny tinkle piano pupils
What Is The Music Boutique?
The Music Boutique is the UK's only specialist music school for children from 4 months old.
Housed in two former shops along the Iconic Lambeth Walk, it’s the life’s work of Osho, a former Special Needs teacher & furniture designer/maker with an eye for everything classic, eclectic, vintage.Interior design, artefacts, tv film and ephemera etc
Osho has curated a uniquely evocatively nostalgic and incredibly safe space where children of all ages are taught music in a child-led way by specialist tutors and established jazz musicians.
If you peer in the window, on any given afternoon, you’ll see children playing drums, electric guitar or the grand piano, in warm lighting, surrounded by an incredible collection of memorabilia, antique furniture, wood carvings, posters and vintage Fisher Price toys.
For nearly 3 decades, this little school has offered one-of-a-kind, innovative, intuitive, and child-led music tuition.
What Happened?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to close and lost 100% of our income.
Despite government guidance encouraging negotiated solutions, our landlords continued charging full rent. Arrears built up. Utility bills later increased by 40%, making recovery even harder however we persevered because this beautiful little school means so much to ourselves and our community
- Amount now needed to raise is £49,824
The initial amount to raise was £69,824 just over£20,000 has been raised which has been such an incredible achievement and testament to how much this phenomenal little school means to our supporters and families and friends leaving us with a further £49,824 to raise.- With our wonderful supportive community we believe absolutely we can achieve this target !!
We are a solvent, functioning school again — but we cannot access this large lump sum all at once.
Why We’re Crowdfunding
This debt exists solely because of the pandemic closure.
We are not asking for a handout.
We are asking for community support to help us conclude this pandemic related debt.

The tutor in the above video has been with the Music Boutique from the age of 16 essentially he was at the time our youngest tutor.
His pupils love his calm manner where he will encourage and inspire via accompanying them and encourage them to create from their own world of their music etc.
So many of our SEN pupils are nurtured by this particular tutor be they Aspergers Autistic ADHD Dyspraxia etc
Joshua is also a Writer Composer Producer and of course a Pianist

We are not asking for free money, a free ticket or a free ride especially in these financially challenging times.
This little school has the unique ability to generate its own increased revenue which is what we need the community and your support with!

We are seeking to raise the figure outlined above directly as a result of the pandemic,
This debt was unavoidable due to the government mandates at the time that forced us to close.
Our landlords had increased our rent by 70% & continued to charge us monthly rent plus interest even though we could not operates as music school due to all the restrictions that were brought in for the duration of the pandemic.
We have provided as a small but powerful piece of evidence so our supporters can be under no illusion this situation has been completely and purposely exacerbated by the very people we hoped as a registered charity would at least provide a little grace under the unprecedented circumstances. this was not the case.:

This is something we earnestly and honestly attempted to avoid beginning 3 days from lockdown
Coupled with the cost of living crisis and the 40% utilities increase this absolutely crippled our recovery process. Our little music school was further decimated due to many of our families at the time moving out of London - (also encouraged by the stamp duty holiday that was then available) - during and after the pandemic. This payment to our landlord will ensure the future of this wonderful little music school.
The irony here is, we are now-due to huge amounts of work rebuilding this little music school- a solvent, social enterprise, with many new tiny pupils attending the Music Boutique and engaging in their brand new sparkly magical and musical journey's . We just do not have access to funds of this amount, all at once. We have explained this to our landlord since the conclusion of the pandemic.
We have been self sufficient and debt free no bank loans for the nearly 3 decades we have been established in the Lambeth Walk. Not to mention a complete safe space for pupils parents past and present and our elder community members that often take a rest at our tables and chairs outside of the school.
Our situation as mentioned previously is only and completely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our only issue is we do not have access to such a large sum of money all at once hence the You Give We Give Crowdfunder.
Unfortunately, like so many independent micro businesses, small social enterprises and educational establishments, the cost of living crisis and 40% utility increase was a major financial curveball not seen or expected, which has only added to the cost of operating a bricks and mortar premises.
The magic of our little school
This little music school has helped countless pupils & parents from countries and cultures all around the world be they Autistic Aspergers ADHD, On The Spectrum Dyspraxia etc to gain access to some of the best schools in London and UK wide through music scholarships, over the 2 and a half decades it has been established and continues to do so even as this fundraiser is being created.
We have children that have been our pupils that are now in university we have children of parents who were only in their 20s when we met them their children are now currently our pupils..

The 3 grand pianos at our little music school share collectively some 380 years of history that our pupils interact with every time they sit at ay one of the these phenomenal instruments. Covering 7 monarchs, 45 wars and 36 prime ministers!
This is not only about loving this little school, it's the little pupils and parents which form our very special little community. We are of course aware that a practical and transparent business approach to keep this little musical place of paradise open for the next generations of future musicians is required, many whom we can already see developing at 2, 3 and 4 years old.
