To rent a retail and workshop space for 3 years, creating work opportunities and promoting financial independence for our Members.
Norfolk Clubhouse is a Member led charity, working with adults 18 and over living with mental and physical health issues. We have over 50 Members in Norfolk and two Hubs in Watton and Thorpe Hamlet.
Our Members are from all walks of life, some work full and part time. Others have worked in varied sectors of the economy and have a vast amount of potential and creative abilities. We support Members back into work by providing coaching to help with confidence building and with practical things such as C.V building. We provide access to education and training opportunities to bridge any skills gaps. We maintain connection with our Members when they have gained work. Members are Members for life because work environments can also be a source of stress and anxiety. The Clubhouse Model helps prevent people losing their jobs through lack of timely mental health support as we aim to build an active community around us which also impacts positively on their friends, family and wider community.
We are seeking a base in Norwich to expand on the work of our Hubs in providing spaces where our Members can holistically grow and thrive. We are seeking a retail and workshop base to scale up our work at the Hubs by making products for sale. Our Members will have opportunities to make practical and creative objects for sale as per their skills and abilities, whilst learning new ones. The sale of the products will be reinvested in providing sustained support for our existing and new Members and in supporting them to develop their own projects around financial independence.
We will provide workshops for other organisations and individuals to help grow their creative skills around upcycling and recycling, reducing waste and making the most of the money available in the current economic climate.
Many of our Members are on the autistic spectrum, are creative and able but they need the right environment to flourish. Other Members have been in the care system or are carers for others and often there is nowhere they can receive sustained support to grow life skills at their own pace. We provide a sustainable, tried and tested model of positive mental health based upon the International Clubhouse Model, (https://clubhouse-intl.org/).
With funding we will grow our Members' potential, support them to become economically independent through meaningful work and grow our range of activities and projects to reach even more people in Norfolk.
