To establish art and music using established Caribbean traditions, parades and costumes
The Manchester Caribbean Carnival promotes peace, harmony and a true mix of vitality within the Manchester Community. 2015 saw our return to Alexandra Park after a 5.5 million pound restoration. Our Carnival is one of the longest running events in the country, having started in 1972. We have always been a free event, young, old, black white it does not matter. We promote local talent, young and old. Catering for all different walks of life through music and art. Our parade of cultural colour and dress parades a 3 mile route through, Moss Side, Hulme and Whalley Range. Each year we see bigger audiences from all over the world. 2015 saw record crowds attending, around 50000 on the Saturday 8th August 2015. We wish to expand even more, bigger parade, artists from the Caribbean and more fun added for children. All our board and members are volunteers of the highest calibre, local people sharing a true love for traditional Carnival atmosphere. We would like to teach the younger generation true values of being a part of our long standing and colourful event (cover photo courtessy of J. Bannister photography).
