The London Walk – stepping up for homelessness
On the evening of Saturday 19th March 2022, six members from the NEWway Project team are taking part in the London Walk, organised by our friends the London Homeless Collective. This walk brings charities working in homelessness in the city together to walk as one. Together aiming to raise £100,000 to fight against homelessness and support those currently experiencing it.
Why support NEWway Project?
In the last 12 months, NEWway supported 308 guests, including 24 staying at the winter night shelter 2021/22. We are one of very few homelessness organisations in Newham that support rough sleepers as well as those in hidden homelessness. A big element of our work includes preventive work to stop people from relapsing to homelessness or reaching the street.
Our team consists of experienced and qualified advisors in areas such as housing, social care, debt management, welfare benefits, training and employment, health and wellbeing. Our day centre is open five days per week for those who need to have shower, do laundry, have nutritious meals and seek advice and support.
We believe in a holistic approach where purpose goes hand in hand with belonging. Guests are an active producers of our offer. They tell us what works well and what they would like to see more of, and we do our best to deliver it to them.
The raised funds will be secure provision of breakfasts and craft activities at the day centre for the whole year. It is a crucial part in making our place welcoming and warm for our guests.
By donating, you will become a member of a wider community tackling homelessness in Newham.
