To raise awareness of air pollution and increase green space in schools across Newham.
The London Clean Air Initiative is an ambitious not-for-profit organisation, with a mission to improve air quality across London. Our vision is clear: to drastically improve air quality across London and ensure that every person in the city can breathe clean, healthy air.
Our project combines education, community action, and environmental improvement through a programme of school-based engagement and green infrastructure. We propose to deliver assemblies and interactive workshops in 25 primary schools across Newham, culminating in the installation of green walls or equivalent biodiversity features (ponds, bug hotels) in each school. Each student will be given a Greener Living resource pack to take home to educate and support parents and residents in the local community.
This project focuses on Newham to address challenges around air quality, health inequalities, environmental awareness, and access to nature.
By embedding sustainability at the heart of the school and home, this project builds capacity for long-term behavioural change, starting with the youngest members of the community and radiating outward.
The funding will allow us to deliver high-impact environmental and educational outcomes across 25 primary schools in Newham, with strong emphasis on community participation, inclusion, and lasting infrastructure.
