THE LASTING PROJECT (Local Access to Sustainable Theatre in NG) is a community-rooted initiative conceived by LEOS Musical Theatre Company.
The Lasting Project's aim is to make theatre accessible, inclusive, and sustainable for all within the East Midlands. Based on the principles of collaboration, quality and representation, we aim to work together to evolve our thriving community theatre scene into a place where everybody feels like they belong, whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience. Through collaborative thinking, shared learning, and a pledge to evolving quality, we will support local groups, celebrate diverse voices, and build lasting pathways for participation and growth in community theatre.
Our initial areas of focus include:
Audience: Helping local groups and performance spaces support audience members with a diverse range of needs, building routes for under-represented groups to directly engage with community theatre.
Members: Creating a welcoming space where people feel seen, heard, and valued, no matter what their background with opportunities to develop and participate as fully as possible.
Infrastructure: Building a collaborative support network where groups can share good practice, resources, and learning, ensuring that the dedication and insights of individuals continue to benefit the wider community. Making buildings and performance spaces as accessible and inclusive as possible, so that everyone can participate fully and contribute meaningfully.
By working together, we not only preserve valuable knowledge but also strengthen each other. We will be fundraising throughout show week to help maintain accessibility efforts, and for The LASTING Project. To find out more please email [email protected]
