Aim: To fund core running costs to enable our charity to meet increasing client need in relation to the current cost of living crisis.

The Lantern Trust is an independent registered charity that was founded in 1983 to help vulnerable and marginalized people in the Weymouth & Portland area. The Lantern Trust aims to bring a lasting change in people’s lives through a dedicated service meeting people’s practical, emotional and personal aftercare needs. Our ethos is one of social inclusion and we aim to break cycles of disadvantage and dependency.

Working closely and professionally with other agencies is a key aspect to the Lantern Trust's work which has been established over several years. Our customers have a varied range of personal concerns including mental health problems, offending behavior, addiction, homelessness and all personal crises. We aim to meet these needs through a wide range of services including advocacy, crisis response, front line practical assistance and welfare benefits, housing & accommodation support and help through the Lantern Trust's assisted rent deposit scheme.

We are situated in an area of multiple deprivation and our customers experience a range of social exclusion factors and associated barriers to access housing, health, welfare and financial support. Our Crisis and Recovery Hubs provide a vital gateway to a range of services which offer tailored support, working with individuals to increase their personal independence and resilience during a time of financial hardship and uncertainty.

Our ethos throughout our work is to empower the individual and at all times encourage personal choice and responsibility. The building of lasting trusting relationships with our customers is the foundation on which all our work is built. The Lantern Trust continues to be a place where laughter, friendship and hope are very apparent.

Please help us to support our community during the cost of living crisis by donating towards our core running costs, thereby enabling us to increase our service provision and reach an increased number of beneficiaries.
