Aim: The Kinyan Community is a vibrant centre that aims to bring people of all ages together for meaningful connections and engaging activities.
The Kinyan Community is a vibrant community centre dedicated to supporting the Jewish community of Salford.
We are open daily, offering a warm and welcoming environment where people of all ages can socialise, take part in meaningful activities, and enjoy a hot drink and nutritious refreshments. This helps reduce household costs while providing a safe, inclusive space to connect with others.
In addition to our open-access drop-in hub, we offer a varied programme including:
We continuously develop new initiatives that respond directly to user feedback and the emerging needs of the community.
Our aim is to provide activities that promote social inclusion and offer vital cost-of-living support.
Our vision is to expand our reach so that no one feels isolated, and everyone who needs us knows we are here. We are especially committed to reaching those who are hard to reach, ensuring no one falls through the cracks and that support is available to all.
By supporting individuals and strengthening community bonds, Kinyan plays a vital role in creating a more connected and resilient community
We plan to spend this funding on the following:
Printing weekly booklets produced by our Writers Club.
Printing professionally bound books four times a year.
Typing and proofreading and editing: £300/month x 12 months = £3,600
Printing: £500 x 4 = £2,000
Hiring a facilitator for the Writers Club and Public Speaking Initiative: 4 sessions per week (each session is 2.5 hours long) x £75 per session x 35 weeks = £10,500
Hiring of mentors: £20 per hour x 18 hours per week x 35 weeks = £12,600
Nutritious refreshments and food for Lunch and Learn: £60/day x 5 days a week x 35 weeks = £10,500
Advertising in the North Manchester Circular: £79 per full-page advert x 11 issues = £869
Total: £40,069
This initiative creates meaningful job opportunities for local residents, including roles for mentors, facilitators, typesetters, editors, and administrative staff. All printing will be carried out by a local small business, further supporting the community’s economic well-being.
