Aim
We aim to open a much needed Home and Gift shop in Southsea. Into which we will incorporate our existing business of Leather Heather Crafts.
Who
After running the small business of Leather Heather Crafts for the past nine years and running out of space at my flat and Mum's house, we both felt it was time to expand, but didn't really feel that the business warranted a whole shop.
Along with everyone else in the community, we felt the huge loss of Knight & Lee ( John Lewis) and Debenhams in Southsea. We missed shopping! Somewhere to buy a cushion, a vase or a lamp. So, we got to thinking, what about a new independent home & gift Shop?
During lockdown in 2020, we took an online business course as we both knew this was the way forward. We took our vision to the Spring Trade Fair in Birmingham and here we found the perfect home interior suppliers that we felt would make that vision possible and affordable.
Plan
The website has launched! (www.theinteriorport.co.uk). We have purchased some 60 items from companies like Bloomingville, Sass & Belle and Shoeless Joe, as well as some exclusive lines from our own Leather Heather Crafts. Plus, with a little help from our fellow Traders at Love Southsea Markets, we will also be supplying locally made goods. Traders like Southsea Studio, Spott and Herbert and Lynton Candles will be added to our extensive collection from the website. The name of our first collection will be MONO, a black and white collection of beautiful Monochrome cushions, candles, flower pots and more, to suit every need and budget.
Why?
So why are we Crowdfunding, I hear you ask? We have been offered premises at 2A Albert Road, Southsea and we feel now is the time to go ahead with our vision and dream of that home interior shop. So we are asking for help! We will need to refit the shop as at present it is being used for a different purpose. We are going to squeeze Leather Heather Crafts and a making station for ourselves into a corner of the shop, Although the shop in not in disrepair, it does need a lot done to it to take it from the old to the new and this will be costly.
Both Mum and I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to you all in advance. And as always our saying from when we trade at the markets as Leather Heather is " If you are in the area, come say hi!"
