Aim

Building a bridge for Hull’s job seekers: easing the stress of present finances and providing the vital skills for future prosperity.

MAY UPDATE: A massive thank you to the Aviva employees who are continuing to donate to our page! Because of your incredible generosity, we are officially planning our Autumn Financial Workshops.

When combined with our ongoing employment and wellbeing support, these workshops do so much more than just teach budgeting, they directly improve the life circumstances for individuals, their families, and our wider Hull communities. Your ongoing support is making a lasting local impact. Thank you!

We have split our mission into two key stages for 2026. This current campaign is our 'Spring Sprint' focused on raising immediate funds to provide urgent employment and financial guidance. By hitting our goal by the 17th April we unlock the full Aviva match-funding to kickstart our outreach work ahead of our larger Autumn campaign.

Who are we, and what is our project about?

We are Humber Job Hub, a Community Interest Company based in Willerby. Since 2018, we have supported over 540 residents across Hull and East Riding, with a proven track record of helping over 74% of our members move into employment or training.

Our project, The Humber Bridge to Financial Freedom, is designed to tackle a critical barrier to employment: the mental and practical burden of financial anxiety. Many of the residents we support have limited formal qualifications and did not receive comprehensive financial education during their school years. This makes navigating the modern world of credit, debt, and budgeting incredibly daunting while job hunting.

To ensure our help is accessible to those who need it most, we go directly out into the heart of the community. Rather than expecting participants to travel to us, we deliver our support in local, trusted community spaces. This outreach approach ensures that we are managing the heavy stress of present-day finances alongside our members, right where they live, while they actively seek new work.

By integrating budgeting tools and debt-reduction strategies into our employment coaching and providing expert referral links for those struggling with gambling we ensure that our members have the stability they need to secure a prosperous future.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Seeking work is a difficult transition, and it is made significantly harder when financial instability is clouding a person's focus. We are crowdfunding to provide a specialised "safety net" for our participants.

This funding allows us to deliver a dual-action approach: relieving the immediate pressure of managing a tight budget while equipping residents with the essential life skills often missed during their formal education to handle their future earnings. By stabilising a participant's finances now, we prevent future cycles of debt and unemployment, creating a lasting positive impact on the local economy and promoting social mobility.

By supporting this project, you are directly investing in the resilience of our local workforce. Because we are part of the Aviva Communities Fund, your impact is doubled every £1 you give is matched by Aviva, turning your support into a life-changing bridge for a member of our community.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Our £1,200 Spring Foundation goal is designed to get our most urgent services active immediately. This budget allows us to support an initial "Pilot Group" of 10–12 residents with high-intensity support while we prepare for our larger Autumn rollout.

  • £600 | Foundation Workshops: Delivering 4 specialised "Money Mastery" sessions for our pilot group, focusing on immediate survival budgeting and navigating the cost-of-living crisis in Hull.
  • £350 | Intensive 1-to-1 Coaching: Providing 15 hours of deep-dive financial coaching for residents in immediate crisis (e.g. extreme debt).
  • £150 | Prosperity Toolkits: Equipping our participants with physical budgeting planners and digital resource guides to use at home.
  • £100 | Specialist Referral Fund: Managing urgent handovers for residents requiring clinical or legal support for gambling addiction or debt crisis.

How you can help

There are two simple ways to get involved and support our project:

1. Make a donation: Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Remember, Aviva matches your donation pound-for-pound up to £250 per person! Early support helps build momentum and inspires others to give too.

2. Spread the word: Share our project with your friends, family, and professional network. The more people we reach in Hull and East Riding, the more likely we are to succeed.
