Introducing The Grimbarians Studio, a space for Grimsby creatives and the home of the Grimbarians movement. #grimsbyreallyismore

Grimbarians is a creative movement, born to change the story line of Grimsby and the way people identify our hometown. What began as an online photo-documentary project has grown into a truly creative, collaborative CIC - a place to celebrate the people of Grimsby.

Our work showcases true life in Grimsby today, highlighting the people making positive changes to the local area in their own way and the kind, motivating acts that can sometimes be overlooked. We do this through portrait photography and biographies, a newspaper that publishes good news only, heritage projects to celebrate our past and future history, through championing local artists, and through collaborating with the likes of GTFC to highlight the hard work and dedication of the people behind the Club.

This is why we need your help..
As Grimbarians has grown and we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary year, we are now ready to move into our very own HQ, a studio in the heart of Grimsby's Docks. With your support we can open the doors and provide a space for the local creative community. The space will feature a photographic studio and an artist room where we will welcome fellow creatives and host various workshops and socials, as well as be home to Grimbarians C.I.C.

As creatives in Grimsby, we understand the need for a purposeful space for photographers and artists alike within the Grimsby area. It has been a goal of ours since we first started the Grimbarians project in 2018, to be able to facilitate locals to carry out their creative practise and galvanise the creative sector.

This is why we are making the commitment to take on this space and provide support for those who engage within the creative sector along with those who are new to it. This space will allow for people in the community to come together and collaborate.

Your donations will allow us to:
- continue the renovation of the space in the heart of the Kasbah.
- equip the studio to provide tools, materials and lighting.
- put together a programme of creative workshops.
- commission local creatives and organisations.
- work closely with local organisations such as those supporting people with mental health issues.
- provide a training ground for young creatives along with mentorship

What we've done so far: 
On 1st January 2018, we launched Grimbarians, a photo documentary project to shine a light on people who are making positive changes to Grimsby in their own way. Since then, and with your continuing support, we’ve achieved quite a bit…

- Showcased 58 Grimbarians, each nominated by you for their dedication to Grimsby

- Teamed up with Grimsby Town Football Club to shine a light on the people behind the Club

- Undergoing a project with RNLI Cleethorpes

- Commissioned creatives for a history project, telling stories of the people from Grimsby’s past

- Collaborated with talented artists who have created exclusive hometown artwork

- Held exhibitions

- Hosted panel talks, including one under the moon with TheCultureHouse

- Published three editions of a good news only newspaper

- Launched an online shop
