Help fund a Public Inquiry and give our communities a voice.
We are 3 campaign groups who have come together to object to one of the largest proposed infrastructure projects in Scotland. The TKUP (Tealing to Kintore Upgrade Project) 400kV Over Head Line, and are under the umbrella name of 'NOTKUP Limited'.
Who are we - Deeside Against Pylons, Angus Pylon Action Group and Stop Tealing Industrialisation Group, and are based in the North East of Scotland ranging from north of Aberdeen down to the outskirts of Dundee.

Why are we against this project - the erection of over 300 metal towers and associated enormous substations, will have a devastating effect on our high grade agricultural land, and thus effecting a lot of peoples livelihoods, our tourism industry, our cultural heritage, our beautiful countryside and our wildlife.
Many farmers up and down the line are fighting this project as their land will be extremely adversely effected due to the sagging 400kV cables that will prevent them from using modern agricultural machinery. Some of them have invested in autonomous farm vehicles, which will no longer be viable due to the EMF (electro magnetic fields) emitted by the high voltages.
This project may have the devastating effect of putting some farmers out of business as their farms are no longer viable.
The wildlife that will be effected ranges from the small Scottish Cross-bill up to larger raptor birds, from Scottish Wildcats to otters and similar mammals, to a good number of deer that still roam wild across these lands.
What do we want to achieve - Angus Council have objected to the proposed 400kV Overhead Line, which means that it will go to a PLI (Public Local Inquiry). The point of the PLI is to establish the acceptability of the project and to determine the consequences of this project in our local area.
A Public Local Inquiry is a process which allows independent scrutiny and a fair hearing to all parties.
Angus Council has also objected to a very large substation at Balkemback, Tealing.
Aberdeenshire Council has also objected to Hurlie Substation, which is another element of the same project.
There are appeals against these objections and we are fighting against these projects. We believe that infrastructure must be delivered in a way that is sympathetic to the people and land of Scotland.
Why are we raising funds - for us to stand up and be counted at the PLI, we need to employ a number of professional services, ranging from legal representation to Landscape Architects to EIA experts, etc.
PLEASE note that we are volunteers and do not get paid a single penny, not even for our own expenses. If we visit a site or go to the likes of the Scottish Parliament, we pay for that out of our own pockets, but they are only so deep and can only go so far.
We have done small scale fund raising in our area, but this is nowhere near enough for us to continue our campaign, which has been ongoing for just under 3 years.
