The Golf Trust (Registered Charity No. 1172134) are excited to be launching our next fundraising project, Going the Extra Mile. Following on from the success of Project 24, where a team of amateur golfers played golf for 24 hours in the Arctic Circle and raised money to purchase 2 specialist vehicles to enable people with disabilities to play golf.
At The Golf Trust, our mission is to empower independence through golf, fostering inclusivity and opportunities for everyone to experience the game. This year, we’ve set an ambitious target to raise £80,000 to purchase three Paragolfers for use across the UK to bring the life changing benefits of golf to people with disabilities and trying to meet this ever-growing demand.
The Paragolfer is an all-terrain mobility vehicle that raises the user into a standing position, to allow a more conventional golf swing.
We have been campaigning and fundraising to make golf using the Paragolfer more accessible. 6 years ago, there were no Paragolfers available for public use, the only users were those who owned one privately. Now there are 10 Paragolfers publicly available to use and free to access.
The Paragolfer can be used by anyone with mobility or stability issues.
The Paragolfer has some remarkable benefits:
- Enables independence.
- Encourages physical activity and helps improve core strength.
- Standing position enhances blood circulation and improved bladder and bowel function.
- Boosts self-confidence and inclusion, allowing individuals to enjoy the game alongside others.
- Enhances mental wellbeing and stress-relief (although depends how you're playing!)
- Enables players to participate in tournaments (if they want) or casual rounds with family and friends.
- Fosters a sense of belonging in the golfing community.
We aim to use the funds raised from this campaign to purchase a Paragolfer for use in the North West region.
