The Give and Take Campaign
Young people in Blackburn with Darwen need us now more than ever.
Blackburn Youth & Darwen Zone is an embedded institution within the town. Currently, 1 in 2 young people in Blackburn with Darwen already live in poverty, with their basic needs (heating, clothing, food etc) not being met and are now facing a new challenge with the cost of living crisis.
With 4500 members, nearly a quarter of the borough's young people aged 8-19 years access our services. We deliver 1200 meaningful engagements weekly, with half of the young people from the top 10% poorest and most deprived communities in the country.
The aptly named ‘Give and Take Campaign’ will encourage people who can afford to give what they can however, their is no obligation, this may be in funds, time, goods, or advice. There is an acknowledgement that this could be ‘given’ when the time is right for them. It also encourages people to take what they need without strict criteria or restrictions.
Over the coming months, Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone will support the community by providing an adapted support package, well-being workshops, signposting to other charities, and, support for young people who are struggling.
