Bringing Joseph Rose's Album to Life

It is almost a year since our beloved son, Joseph Rose, died suddenly on 4 September 2025 at the age of 31.

Joseph was many things to many people: a husband, father, son and friend; a gifted musician, therapist and healer. His music carried the same depth, tenderness and wisdom that so many experienced through his presence.

Before he died, Joseph had begun working on an album with the producer and musician Duncan Bridgeman. It was something he had dreamed of creating, and together they had already begun recording. Although only a few songs were completed, Joseph also left behind many beautiful unfinished songs and recordings on his computer.

It felt only right to invite Duncan to continue the work they had begun together. Duncan understands Joseph's musical vision in a unique way and has lovingly taken on the role of helping to bring that shared dream to fruition.

Together with a community of musicians and singers who loved Joseph, we are creating The Gift of Breath ~ a collaborative album woven from Joseph's own recordings, his original songs, and musical contributions from those who knew him and were touched by his music and his life. The title is taken from the lyrics in one of his songs ‘Hunter’

This album is being created through a circle of love and generosity, with many musicians offering their time and creativity to help bring Joseph's songs into the world.

Listening to Joseph's songs since his death has been an extraordinary experience. So many of them seem to speak directly of the mystery of life and what lies beyond. His words have taken on an even deeper meaning, almost as though they were left as a gift for those of us learning to live without him. At times, it feels as though Joseph is still speaking to us through them. From one of his signiture songs, Jai Ma ‘My body is the earth, my blood the sea, I step into the light, I am free’…

Our intention is to release the album around the first anniversary of Joseph's death in September 2026.

To make this possible, we are hoping to raise £15,000 to cover the costs of producing, mixing, mastering, manufacturing and releasing the album. Although those involved are generously donating their time and talents, there are still significant production costs that need to be met.

Our deepest wish is that every future penny generated through sales and streaming of the album can go directly to Joseph's wife, Kate, and their two young children, Ahren and Thalia.

Ten months since Joseph died, and the reality of raising two small children without his love, care, presence and income remains profoundly challenging. Every milestone for the children carries both joy and the ache of his absence. By covering the production costs now, we hope this album can become a lasting legacy that continues to support his young family for years to come.

More than anything, this project is an act of love.

It is a way of honouring Joseph's voice, his music, his extraordinary heart and the healing that so many experienced through him. It is also a community offering, created by people who loved him and who wish to help carry his gifts into the world.

This is about more than completing an unfinished album. It is about bringing into the world something that Joseph himself had already begun, a vision that is now being lovingly carried forward by those who knew him best. In doing so, we hope his voice, his music and the love at the heart of his songs will continue to reach and support people for many years to come.
