Help us raise funds to release our second album – a CD of music for Advent and Christmas
Our aim
We are asking for your help to release our second album, a CD of music for Advent and Christmas. We are incredibly grateful for any support, no matter the size, and have some ways to thank you for supporting this project which you can see listed on this page.
“Weavers of rich and plangent aural tapestries, The Gesualdo Six meld style and substance with beguiling sure-footedness.” BBC Music Magazine
About the Project
Since we first performed this repertoire in 2014, we knew that we wanted to make it into a CD recording. Over the past few years, we have been developing the tracklist, cultivating a unique and exciting festive album that explores the mystery and joy of the Advent and Christmas seasons.
We have already raised the majority of the total that it will cost to make this disc through saving from concerts and the generosity of some of our existing supporters.
Building on the success of our first CD, English Motets, renaissance masterpieces by composers including Tallis and Praetorius will be set alongside gorgeous contemporary works by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Jonathan Harvey and Eleanor Daley.
“Spellbinding... a wonderful achievement.” The Daily Telegraph
featured works will include Es ist ein Ros entsprungen Praetorius | There is a flower John Rutter | Veni, Veni Emmanuel arr. Lawson | Love came down at Christmas Eleanor Daley | Videte miraculum Tallis

We had a fantastic time performing some of this repertoire in Ely Cathedral last Christmas, with over 3 million people watching our videos of Es ist ein Ros entsprungen and Away in a manger.
The Gesualdo Six
“The Gesualdo Six are outstanding, shifting impeccably from Renaissance polyphony to twenty-first century music.” Seen and Heard International
The Gesualdo Six is a vocal consort comprised of some of the UK’s finest young consort singers, directed by Owain Park. Formed in March 2014 for a performance of Gesualdo’s Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday in the chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge, the group went on to give over one hundred performances around the United Kingdom and abroad in its first four years. Over this time, The Gesualdo Six further developed a passion for ensemble singing that for many of them stemmed from formative years as choristers in churches and cathedrals around the country. In 2018, The Gesualdo Six successfully curated its second Composition Competition, supported by the Music Sales group of companies, attracting 306 entries from around the world.
