The George Revival - A pub for Mere, by Mere

Aim: Bringing The George Inn back to life as a warm, welcoming pub at the heart of Mere, built by and for the community.

Hello friends, neighbours, and fellow lovers of great food and good company,

My name is Cian, and I’m reaching out with something close to my heart - a vision to bring The George Inn back to life, right here in our beautiful town of Mere.

If you live here, you know this pub. You’ve passed it on carnival days, maybe shared a drink there over the years, and likely watched with some sadness as it changed hands again and again - never quite fulfilling its potential.

But The George is more than bricks and mortar. It’s part of Mere’s soul. And I believe we can bring it back - together.

The Vision

I want to take over the lease of The George Inn and turn it into what we all know it could be: a thriving, welcoming, high-quality pub and restaurant that brings pride, energy, and warmth back into the heart of our town.

Imagine walking through the doors and finding:

• A beautifully refurbished bar and dining space - cosy, stylish, and full of life.
• An exciting seasonal menu that celebrates the best of what’s grown and made locally.
• A thoughtfully curated drinks list - local ales, great wines, and a G&T done properly.
• Eight charming guest bedrooms, restored with care for weekend visitors, family, and walkers.
• A space to gather - book clubs, quiz nights, open mic nights, or just a quiet pint with a friend.

I have the vision, the commitment, and a deep love for good hospitality. I’ve spent years soaking up the atmosphere of brilliant pubs, cafés, and restaurants. I’ve also spent many years working in pubs - from welcoming locals to high-end establishments - so I know what makes them tick, how they operate day-to-day, and what keeps people coming back. I’ve run events professionally too, so I understand how to bring people together and create something memorable.

What I don’t have - yet - is the capital to bring this vision to life.
