Support Laura the Fisher-Knight in her quest to save the River Kingdom!

The Quest to Create The Fisher-Knight’s Tale…

By donating to this campaign, you can help a fledgling puppet theatre company create their very first show!

Based in South Devon, Wild Toy Theatre is a new company set up by artist and puppeteer Sarah Vigars. We tell original stories inspired by rural themes, including wildlife, folklore and local heritage.

The Fisher-Knight’s Tale is a puppet show for children aged 4 and up. A ‘pop-up book’ world designed for intimate settings, the show will tour to libraries, classrooms, art centres, and festivals from Spring 2017.

The Story: An Eco-Quest

Meet Laura, the Fisher-Knight! She is brave, she is bold, and she is armed with a fishing rod! Laura is on a perilous quest to save the River Kingdom from floods, and there are plenty of characters to help her along the way. There’s Kingfisher - the noble River King, Wise Old Heron - the quiet sage, and Trickster Otter, who is always up to mischief! But where have all the fish gone!? And who is cutting down all the trees?

What is the money for?

£1600 will cover the cost of materials to make:

  • 7 puppets
  • 1 pop-up book puppet theatre stage

£1600 will also cover artist fees for

…for 1 week.

Any additional money that we raise will be invested in equipment for the show, such as musical instruments and costumes.

When can you join Laura on her quest?

Wild Toy Theatre  is delighted to have been awarded a grant from Arts Council England, in addition to this crowdfund campaign! The Fisher-Knight’s Tale will therefore make it’s first scratch tour in October 2016 to 6 venues in Devon. Then, with a bit more hard work, it will be on the road to libraries, arts centres and festivals  from Spring 2017.
