About The Festival of Halifax

The Festival of Halifax is a new independent festival taking place in Halifax town centre between 14th and 16th of May 2021.  The festival will include music, photography, art, food, film and more. It is being funded by The Arts Council via The Grayston Unity bar in Halifax town centre. As well as bar owner & founder of the festival, Michael Ainsworth, the event is being produced by Liza Brown, Greg Hobson, Corinne McDonald and Mel Mitchell-Smith, all regulars at the bar.

The bar was awarded funding from the Arts Council to help secure its own future, but we believe that as a town we grow stronger together, so the decision was taken to organise a festival with the potential to benefit independent businesses and townspeople alike. An opportunity to rise again and present a broad spectrum of rich culture to immerse ourselves into.

We are crowdfunding to enable more businesses & artists to benefit from the festival & also to help it become an annual festival.

The Festival of Halifax celebrates the town's creativity and independent spirit. Many of the events will feature musicians, artists, chefs, poets, historians and authors with a strong Halifax connection.

The festival will take place across venues in the town. Some events have been curated by The Grayston Unity and other venues will be supported to curate yet more.
