Integrate the full inclusion of the rights of persons with disabilities into domestic climate change action plans and communications

At The Disability Union we are uncompromising when it comes to diversity and inclusion. We believe wholeheartedly in two core principles:
We are working hard to provide disabled people and carers the chance to have their voices heard and needs met.
We recently launched our 'Disability & Democracy' project that has the commitment from MPs across all political parties and community activists. One of the key priority areas is climate change and how we involve disabled people in those conversations and policy making.
The Disability & Democracy program is Educational initiative that will equip disabled people and carers with the essential skills required to become involved in politics. The program consists of different elements, climate change being one of them. Key organisations will be involved. Unisons Stephen Smellie ( climate change spokesperson) MP Vicky Foxcroft ( shadow minister for Disabled People) and Greenpeace have pledged their commitment to our program.
In order for us to successfully deliver a robust climate change & disability curriculum we need funding. The funding will be directed to webinars, campaign material and costs of venues. These webinars and events will lead up to The Great Big Green week in which we hope to facilitate a conference focussing on climate change and disability, outlining the solutions and how we create a just transition for disabled people.
