 New stretch target

An initial print run for 100 copies will cost us approximately £700, so we would love to be able to achieve this goal, with the aim of funding a second print run!

With any extra money raised, we pledge to put this towards the next issue of 'The Debutante'.

If we do really well...we will organise a launch party for the first issue!

Interjecting women surrealist's art into the contemporary everyday.

This is a collaborative project run by two defiant young women, based in Scotland, who simultaneously fell in love with all-things-surrealist at university. Women Surrealists aims to interject women surrealist's art into the contemporary, through our blog and social media platforms.

We are incredibly excited to announce our new journal, The Debutante. Our project is currently underway, and we already have a wonderfully eclectic range of submissions including film, critical analysis, photography, poetry and sculpture for Issue 1.

So far, this has been a non-funded project, and sadly we have been unable to offer any payment for contributors, and we cannot self-fund a large print run. We would love to offer our contributors their own copy of The Debutante, and create digital versions on ISSUU. In addition, with the money raised, we would like to create a handle of print copies, to distribute around art galleries in Edinburgh, spreading the provocative work of contemporary women surrealists, both local and international.

With the money raised we can:

  • Re-brand our Wordpress page and get a personal domain name.
  • Print and distribute The Debutante into public spaces, cafes and art galleries across Edinburgh.
  • Print editions for our contributors, with no cost to them.
  • Create an online ISSUU edition, which can be accessed by all.
  • Offer personalised 'Patron' copies to those who pre-order our first issue and support raising funds.

Roughly, to print 100 copies will cost us around £700, so we would love to be able to achieve this goal with any extra support!

"I am stumbling headfirst and happily through my twenties. I like chance encounters with unusual people, the EU, and those wrinkly, hairless cats."

"I am an avid beret enthusiast, who can often be found kneeling at the side of a road having an intellectual debate with a cat. I have recurring dreams of travelling to Paris and to Tokyo…"
