Aim

We’re creating a community recycle, reuse and repair hub to rescue unwanted furniture, appliances and materials, reducing landfill waste.

The Cycle of Change is our ethos at The Reuse Initiative CIC.

Rescue • Restore • Rebuild • Reinvent

“The Cycle of Change – Turning waste into opportunity.”

We believe every item has a story — and with the right approach, its story doesn’t have to end in landfill.

With funding, we will set up a dedicated reuse warehouse and workshop, where we can collect, sort, repair, dismantle, refurbish and upcycle unwanted household items.

This facility will allow us to:

  • Scale up our collection network and logistic.
  • Provide affordable or free household essentials for people in need.
  • Offer training and volunteering opportunities in repair, upcycling, and logistics.
  • Run community events and workshops to teach environmental awareness & repair skills to promote sustainable living.
  • Build partnerships with local councils, businesses, and house clearance companies to reduce waste and improve recycling rates.

What we'll deliver:

  • A fully equipped reuse and repair hub — a warehouse fitted with sorting stations, repair benches and safe storage
  • Collection and logistics system, including equipment and bins, to make it easy for households and businesses to donate.
  • Run a voucher scheme to give free or low-cost furniture to people on Universal Credit or in crisis situations.
  • Tools and machinery for dismantling, repairing, and upcycling items.
  • Regular public events to redistribute goods and showcase upcycling projects.
  • Training sessions and workshops for volunteers, jobseekers, and community members.
  • Clear, transparent reporting, showing how much waste has been saved, how many people supported and the impact achieved.

Why it's a great idea:

Our project delivers environmental, social and economic benefits:

Environmental:

- Diverts tonnes of waste from landfill, cutting carbon emissions and saving natural resources.

- Establishes a platform for raising awareness about environmental issues and advocating for resource stewardship.

Social:

- Provides low-cost or free goods to families on low incomes and vulnerable households.

- Enhances collaboration with local councils, businesses and house clearance firms to optimise waste management and recycling efforts.

Economic:

- Creates jobs and skills training opportunities for local people, boosting employability.

- Facilitates the creation of a self-sustaining circular economy hub, reducing reliance on single-use goods.

Community:

- Inspires sustainable habits, strengthens community connections and brings people together to tackle waste.

- Promotes innovation in upcycling and repair practices through workshops and hands-on training.

Steps to get it done:

  • Secure Premises & Initial Setup
  • Equipment & Infrastructure Installation
  • Logistics & Collection Network Launch
  • Community Training & Volunteering Programme
  • Public Opening & First Reuse Event
  • Ongoing regular operations, growth & reporting

Your support fuels our mission - to build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable community.

Together - we can create a future where nothing goes to waste and local people have access to affordable, eco-friendly products.
