We're fundraising to buy a shipping container to hold crucial training equipment and get away from it turning up in the back of a car.

We're still collecting donations

On the 11th September 2022 we'd raised £5,305 with 32 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

We'll buy extra training kit to keep in the container, including balls, bibs, sticks, and the other equipment needed to make the sport accessible to all members of the community.

Who are we?

North Norfolk Hockey Club is a grassroots sports club providing training and playing opportunities for members who range in age from 4 - 68 years old. Our Juniors and Adult members play matches across Norfolk and the Eastern Counties. To break down barriers to sport our membership fees are some of the lowest in the country.

Community impact

Our Juniors coaches and volunteers run outreach programs in the community and at local schools, and our Adults section is part of the Back 2 Hockey program. Our aim is to provide all our members, and potential new members, the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of taking part in sport and being the member of a club.

Players, parents, and volunteers all have a role to play in developing a strong community based experience.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We've been blown away by the increased interest in our club and hockey as a sport in the local area. It's great to see, but does create extra demands on our resources.

The pitch we use for training and matches is that of Sheringham High School who are incredibly supportive. They have agreed to allow us to house a NNHC storage unit close to the pitch which will allow us to ensure the bibs, balls and sticks we provide to players of all ages are on hand at every session. These are currently brought to sessions by coaches and captains and with the additional numbers we need to upgrade.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The funds will be spent on buying a shipping container which will be placed on site.

How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022

It's fair to say our members are psyched by the opportunity to watch international hockey nearby at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games this year. Many have already booked their tickets, but as importantly we're already planning outreach programs to build the sport and a club ethos in our community. We're preparing to run 'Pick Up A Stick' sessions encouraging people 'Back to Hockey' and already have in place a scheme to support Ukrainians new to the UK who might want to take up the sport.

With such a variety of Birmingham 2022 pitch-based initiatives coming through the pipeline we really need to upgrade our storage facilities. That means coaches and volunteers will have everything on hand to support new players to take up the sport. If one bag of kit does not turn up on the day, we could miss the opportunity to give newbies the high-quality introduction to the sport that we would like to.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Create a fundraiser of your own. Use the button on our page to get started. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
