Aim
We are crowdfunding to provide more energy efficient spaces to heat our rooms delivering services for the community in North Kensington.
The ClementJames Centre is a charity based in North Kensington. Our vision is for everyone in our community to release their potential and live fulfilled lives. We do this through the provision of education, employment and wellbeing support in a safe and compassionate space:
- Employment Support: We help people to gain meaningful and sustainable employment through personalised advice and support, mentoring and work skills activities.
- Adult Learning: We support adults to improve their maths, English and ICT skills through a wide range of Functional Skills courses and intensive Literacy & Numeracy support.
- Children & Young People's Education: We help young people to learn, flourish and achieve their potential through academic support, mentoring and Literacy & Numeracy support.
- Wellbeing & Advice: We empower people to overcome barriers and challenges and to engage with their own wellbeing. We provide Information, Advice and Guidance and wellbeing activities.
Our community garden is an important space for bringing the community together in the summer, but we are raising funds to be able to provide warm and welcoming spaces for the community over the winter. Our energy bills have significantly increased in the last year and we are looking for more energy efficient, cost-effective ways to heat our spaces. As such, we are seeking funds to buy new energy efficient heaters and controls for the spaces delivering our community activities.
Our warm spaces will bring people together in the following ways:
- Our homework club ensures young people have a safe and warm place to be once school has ended.
- Our wellbeing programme brings people together through a weekly timetable of group activities, as well as larger celebration events to bring the community together on a larger scale.
- Our community Adult Learning classes bring people together in a friendly, relaxed environment, allowing learners to build up their skills in a safe, warm place.
- Our reception and kitchen areas provide spaces for people to congregate away from the cold outside.
