Aim

Help us develop and perform our story, "The Chipping Norton Incident" and share with people across the UK.

Thank you for all of your support in helping us take "The Chipping Norton Incident" to Tolpuddle Festival! We have enjoyed this process so much, and are so passionate about this story, that we're now hoping to take the show even further and spread the word about the Ascott Martyrs.

As a group of professional actors and theatre-makers, we were thrilled to have been invited to bring the performance of the true life story of the Ascott Martyrs to audiences at the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival recently, and now we'd like to take this even further by organising performances in other areas of the country.

We would love your support in further sharing this incredible true story with brand new audiences.

Written by Tess Fletcher, The Chipping Norton Incident is a play based on the true story of the Ascott Martyrs - 16 women, teenage girls and 2 babies who were imprisoned in 1873.

Our guiding mission is to bring the little-known story of the Ascott women to audiences, and raise awareness of these astonishing, absurd, terrible (and mostly forgotten) events in British history which helped revive the rights to peaceful protest.

We are a team of early career professionals, with small pockets of funds to make this happen. We are receiving some support with rehearsal space, but to take this show any further, we need extra support with props, costume, travel expenses and even to cover our own expenses to work on the project.

What we do have in abundance is a lot of thanks to give you for your support so far!

Everyone who chips in to help take ‘The Chipping Norton Incident’  further will get a huge - and very grateful- shout out on social media, and featured on the ‘Supporters Wall’ of our website, in recognition of your crucial role in getting this project off the ground and in front of audiences.

So please consider making a donation - together we will bring the remarkable story of the courageous Ascott women to new audiences of all generations.

Thanks so much
