Aim

We are expanding the rare and fragmented Celtic Rainforest, creating a home for nature and establishing woodlands for us all to enjoy.

The UK was once home to a lush, dense and species rich temperate rainforest. Flourishing along the west coast this Atlantic Oakwood provided rich habitat for our native wildlife. But we have nearly wiped this woodland from our land, with only a fragmented 2 percent remaining, restoring this habitat is essential. Not only providing a rich habitat for our wildlife but is essential to our wellbeing.

How do we put these woodland habiats back into our landscape?

Tree planting does not make a woodland, careful land management over several years ensures successful creation of woodlands, it is this commitment to the land and the young woodland that successfully turns fields into forests. Plant One now manages over 1000 acres of newly established woodland.

This crowd funder is aimed at raising finance to purchase essential tools and equipment we need to manage our sites. With 15 woodland creation projects, a large in-house team of woodland creators and an army of volunteers, Plant One needs to equip each woodland creator with a host of tools and equipment to ensure our sites are maintained. This boost in equipment will allow us to take on more woodland creation projects, ensuring the possibility for new woods is not encumbered by our capacity to properly maintain and manage them.

Together we will make woodlands part of the shared experience of living on this wild isle.

Additional woodland habitats will boost biodiversity, protect and enhance water sources and sequester carbon. We will effectively deliver woodland creation by engaging with landowners and the community, ensuring everyone has access and can play a part in restoring nature.
