New stretch target
We've set a stretch goal of raising £15,000. This includes £5,000 of match funding already pledged from the East Sussex Community Wellbeing Fund. So our overall target is £15,000, of which we have to raise £10,000 ourselves.

Good News Update!
We have received a pledge of £5,000 from the East Sussex Community Wellbeing Fund, which is fantastic news. This number shows up in our total amount pledged, but we still have to raise £10,000 ourselves to receive this funding. So our overall target is now £15,000!

About The Bell
The Bell at Iden is a 17th century free house that sits in the heart of Iden village in East Sussex. The Bell was an important part of the local community until it closed its doors in June 2023. The current owners have put it up for sale but have struggled to find a buyer. The Bell is registered as an Asset of Community Value in recognition of its importance to Iden.
Our Aim
We want to buy The Bell for the local community. We have registered a community benefit society called The Bell Inn Iden Community Limited. Our goal is to purchase The Bell and run it as a community pub for the benefit of local people.
Why We Need Funding
We are applying for grants and other funding to enable us to buy The Bell. And later in the year we will run a community share offer that will raise money by allowing people to buy shares in our community benefit society.
But first we need to raise funds to cover our initial costs, such as valuations, surveys, expert advice and support for grant applications. We are asking for donations now to help us cover these costs.

What This Isn't
Please note this is a donation and does not buy you a share of The Bell. All being well, the opportunity to buy shares in our community benefit society will come later this year when we launch our community share offer.
