We're continuing to raise funds so we can buy the freehold of The Bayford Inn
In October 2024 we managed to secure the purchase of the former Unicorn Inn which had closed in April that year. It was secured by a former local resident with a view to the community coming together to buy the freehold outright.
We completed in November 2024.
A legal entity called Bayford Inn Benefit Society Limited (regulated by the FCA) was set up in December 2024 and we started to raise funds in earnest, by offering shares from a minimum of £250.
Thanks to those early shareholders - and thousands of hours of volunteer labour and expertise - we were able to open once again, just a year and a day after we had the keys.
We have successfully operated as a drinks-only pub since November 2025 with food pop ups and quiz nights already proving popular.
We recently applied for a lottery grant for refurbishment of the kitchen and we plan to have a fantastic food offering very soon!
At our core we are community owned but technically we still need to buy the freehold and we are still short of our original target of £200,000 (plus £150,000 for refurbishment costs)
