Provision of Playing Fields and associated facilities including football pitches, a multi use games area, childrens play area, bowling green, social club and community hall with ancillary facilities, for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parishes of Steeple Barton and Westcote Barton. This is partially achieved by leasing the social facilities to a separate non-profit making organisation.

1721484384_20240720_144925%5B2%5D.jpgThe Bartons Victory Memorial Hall Fund (registered number 261459) has existed since WW 2 and provides the only playing fields within the two parishes of Steeple Barton and Westcote Barton, which includes the village of Middle Barton, and the immediately surrounding area. We are situated in a rural area in North Oxfordshire with no public transport links other than a voluntary run community bus. The BVMHF owns and manages the Bartons War Memorial Playing Fields. These provide a community hall, children's playground, sports pitches, a multi-use games area, bowling green, social club, war memorial garden, green spaces, public toilets, changing rooms and car parking. The playing fields are the focal point for village events and celebrations and are used on a daily basis by children and adults, both residents and visitors. The car park and public toilets are also used by visitors to the area as again they are the only such facility in the two parishes. The charity has very limited regular income and relies on donations and grants for any major expenditure. It is run entirely by volunteers from the local community. Wherever possible general maintenance is also carried out by volunteers but many things require the use of professional tradesmen and companies and it is important that the charity has sufficient funds to keep everything in use and compliant with health and safety legislation. In addition to maintaining the facilities we already have, over time the Management Committee of the Fund would like to install additional items which will benefit the users of all ages.
