We are raising money to provide holistic support to people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield.
by Joseph Logan in Sheffield, England, United Kingdom
Homelessness in Sheffield has reached an all time high. A recent outreach team recorded a 78% increase of people sleeping on Sheffield's streets from 2023.
With the temperatures dropping and snow imminent, the risk of frostbite, trench foot and hypothermia is sadly probable for people experiencing homelessness. Along with loneliness and isolation, homelessness is a dark place to be.
At The Archer Project, we are experiencing the impact of these rising numbers. Our centre has never been busier, we have already helped 1140 people suffering from homelessness this year, more people than in the whole of 2023. We have also already served over 21,623 meals, higher than ever before.
Here’s a little bit about the support we offer:
Based in Sheffield’s city centre, we act as a place where people can visit to access many services and avenues of support. In addition to nutritious food, we provide, showers, laundry facilities, fresh clothing, mail services, IT access, therapeutic activities and a range of on-site medical practitioners.
We also offer people volunteering roles at our Project, and supported employment opportunities within our social enterprises, Just Clean and Printed By Us, (go and check them out!).
So, I suppose you're wondering how you can help?
