Aim
To raise the start up funds needed to progress a community bid to buy the last remaining pub in our village
Please help us prevent another rural pub from closing!
The Shoscombe Community Benefit Society Ltd was set up following a successful nomination to register The Apple Tree Inn, Shoscombe as an asset of community value. This lovely pub in a small village south of Bath has served our community for almost 150 years but it is up for sale and will be converted to residential use unless we can raise the funds to buy it. It is the only remaining pub in our Parish and once lost it is gone forever.
It is our vision that it will be much more than 'just a pub' and provide activities, events, act as the hub of our community helping to combat social isolation, provide local employment and support other local businesses. We urgently need donations to fund the associated start-up costs, particularly the costs for a valuation survey and condition survey of the building. These surveys will be used to inform our business plan and shareholder prospectus for the community shares offer which we hope will raise the majority of funds needed to complete the purchase.
Any donations raised in excess of our target which are not required for other costs such as solicitor fees, marketing etc. will go towards our bid for the pub. Should our bid be unsuccessful any unallocated donations received will be given to a local charity.
