Aim

We're raising £5,000 to bring our short film 'The After' to life, creating a powerful story and showcasing UK filmmaking talent.

"We are fine." This line captures the polite lie told when a world fractures. The After explores two parallel forms of paralysis: Klara, frozen by maternal loss and financial decay, and June, suffocating inside a gilded, wealthy mould she is desperately trying to outrun. When these inertias collide, volatile, deeply human friction follows.

Through restrained visual storytelling and deeply performance-driven filmmaking, The After examines the aftermath of loss beyond the moment of tragedy itself. Rather than focusing on grief as a singular event, the film explores its quieter consequences: financial insecurity, isolation, changing identities, and the pressure to convince the world that everything is fine. Alongside this, it explores how privilege and expectation can become their own form of confinement.

Inspired by contemporary independent cinema, The After is an intimate character study that balances emotional honesty with moments of warmth and humour. At its core, it is a film about human connection and the hope that even when life feels irreversibly altered, meaningful relationships can help us find a way forward.

This first campaign (of three) is dedicated to pre-production—the stage where ideas become reality and every creative decision lays the foundation for the film you will eventually see on screen.
Our goal is to raise £5,000 to help us prepare The After for production. These funds will allow us to build the strongest possible foundation before filming begins in South Wales.

Your support will help us cover:

Casting & Rehearsals – Finding the right supporting cast and giving our actors the time to explore the emotional complexity of the story together.
Locations & Production Planning – Securing our primary filming location, organising logistics, scheduling, permits, and ensuring every shooting day runs smoothly.
Camera & Technical Preparation – Camera tests, equipment planning, shot development, and technical preparation with our Director of Photography to establish the film's visual language.
Production Management – Insurance, contracts, legal documents, scheduling, accommodation planning, and all the behind-the-scenes work that makes an independent film possible.

Every contribution helps us enter production fully prepared, allowing our team to focus on what matters most: creating a beautiful film. Even sharing this page is a huge help!
