The Active Looking Project, regular creative activities to improve the lives of people who need it most from Camborne to Redruth
Help secure our future and support us to develop and grow our Active Looking Project
The Active Looking Project run by Make It Better CIC provides regular creative activities to improve the lives of people who need it most in Cornwall.
We support individuals who are most affected by health inequalities by offering creative opportunities to reflect and learn about wellbeing. Our projects use creative activities, active looking and the five ways to wellbeing to support good mental health and empower people.
We are inspired by taking notice of the world around us and believe that actively looking and paying attention to what is right in front of us helps us to externalise our thoughts and adjust our perspective.
Through our work, we tackle issues like digital poverty, social isolation, loneliness and poor mental or physical health by offering joyful, meaningful ways to explore the world.
Our Community – 11 monthly photography meetups, workshops and online challenges open to all that promote “looking to create change”
Active Looking Workshops – each year following a callout, our community selects eleven artists, makers and creatives to run special one-off creative workshops that focus on Active Looking
Our Partnership Programme – We collaborate with organisations to introduce creative activities supporting wellbeing and expression.
We're regularly approached by organisations seeking our input and advice. Our flexible, creative approach allows us to offer engaging, impactful support where it's most needed.
We want to bring our work to the communities that need it the most and to help ensure the future of our organisation.
In the last year, we've worked with over 943 individuals and 19 partner organisations.
But we know we can reach more people.
We need your help to secure our future and make our work sustainable.
Every little helps and we would be so grateful for each and every donation.
Your donations will directly support our work and help us reach more people.
As part of our crowdfunder, we have some fantastic film and analogue cameras, so if you know of a photographer or photography enthusiast who fancies getting their hands on some incredible equipment, please head to our rewards and spread the word.
