Aim: As an autistic individual myself, I have a passion for helping neurodivergent people, businesses, organisations and causes
Living with a disability presents many challenges, but as an autistic individual, I find it particularly stressful. Many people don’t fully understand how seemingly small things such as changes in routine, sensory sensitivities, or social interactions can feel overwhelming for someone who is neurodivergent. What may appear insignificant to most can be a major hurdle for individuals like myself, impacting daily life in ways that are often unseen or misunderstood.
In recent years, there has been growing awareness of neurodivergence, particularly autism, and with that, an increasing recognition of the support many individuals require. However, while progress is being made, there is still a long way to go in terms of acceptance, accessibility, and meaningful inclusion. From personal experience, I know how difficult it can be to navigate environments that aren’t designed with neurodivergent needs in mind. Even something as simple as going to a busy public space can be incredibly stressful. Without the understanding and support of my partner, I would find it much more difficult to go out and engage with the world in the way I would like to.
One of my key goals for 2025 is to become an ambassador for neurodivergent individuals, using my experiences to raise awareness, advocate for greater support, and contribute to a more inclusive society. To help me on this journey, I am currently studying for a Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism. This qualification is an important step in deepening my knowledge, not only for my own personal growth but also to equip me with the tools needed to support and educate others.
To mark this milestone and show my commitment to the cause, I will be participating in The A World UK CIC 5K in April. This fantastic charity plays a crucial role in supporting autistic individuals and their families, providing essential resources and creating opportunities for greater understanding. Taking part in this event is not only a personal achievement but also a chance to contribute to a cause that means so much to me.
I hope that by sharing my journey, I can inspire others whether they are neurodivergent themselves or simply looking to learn more to foster greater empathy, awareness, and inclusion. The path to change begins with understanding, and I am determined to be part of that change.
