We have decided to take on the 3 Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales over the course of three days. By the end of this testing challenge, we will have walked a total distance of nearly 40 kilometers and a combined ascent of over 3,000 meters. We have chosen 3 incredibly meaningful charities that are close to our hearts.
The first charity, the RSPCA, has been dedicated to the welfare of animals for over 200 years. From rescuing animals in distress to campaigning for kinder laws and farming practices, the RSPCA's work has a profound impact on the lives of countless animals. They strive to change lives by preventing cruelty and neglect, improving the lives of farm animals, and educating the public about the importance of animal welfare. Their tireless work ensures that animals, both domestic and wild, are given the chance to live happier, healthier lives.
The second charity is the Zanzibar Learning for Life Foundation (ZL4LF), an organisation focused on providing education to young people in Zanzibar. ZL4LF is driven by the values of community, perseverance, and respect for education. Their goal is to help young people unlock their potential by offering practical learning, with an emphasis on communication and English language skills—vital tools for success in school, work, and life. The foundation also empowers students by offering vocational training, helping them secure meaningful work or start their own businesses. With a commitment to equality and a global vision, ZL4LF is shaping a generation ready to lead, innovate, and thrive.
The final charity supported by this group is PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia), which provides invaluable support to families with children undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia at Sheffield Children's Hospital. PACT offers a range of services, including holiday caravans, accommodation near the hospital, and trips and treats to brighten the lives of affected families. Additionally, they fund research projects, provide vital equipment for the hospital, and support community nurses, ensuring that families have the resources and care they need during an incredibly challenging time.
We will be splitting the total amount raised equally between the 3 chosen charity so any donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping these charities continue their important work.
