About Us
Mama to Mama is the first and ONLY baby bank service in Thanet providing pre-loved clothing, hygiene products and essential equipment to children under 5 living in poverty.
Through referrals from support workers, Mama to Mama supports the most vulnerable households in Thanet, which is one of the most disadvantaged local authorities in the UK. We work to support all those living in poverty, as well as those struggling with mental health issues, fleeing domestic abuse or human trafficking, asylum seekers, refugees, care leavers or those who are homeless or living in temporary accommodation.
We want to ensure that every newborn baby and child under 5 is given the essentials they need to give them the best start in life, whilst giving caregivers the hope and confidence they deserve.
Why do we need your help?
The average parent spends between £1-3K when preparing for a new child. This cost is unreachable for the families we support. Our bespoke care packages include preloved clothing, prams and cots up to a value of over £3K. We also provide grants to individuals and wellbeing workshops. Our service boosts mental wellbeing and reduces the financial anxieties that we see many families facing in Thanet.
Our aim is to use the funds to secure our warehouse, develop our signposting service and to become more sustainable both operationally and financially. Our vision for 2025 is to create a strong corporate and community monthly giving programme which will enable us to work more effectively and say yes to every call for help we receive.
