Who are we?

Mama to Mama is the first and only baby bank in Thanet, a local Kent authority with entrenched levels of poverty and deprivation, where 1 in 5 children live in absolute low-income households.

Founded in 2021, Mama to Mama aims to give the babies and children in our community a better start in life by supporting vulnerable pregnant women facing financial hardship. We do this by providing packages of high quality, preloved clothes, blankets and toys for a newborn’s first 6 months, plus hygiene products for Mama and baby. We also provide equipment for children up to age 5, including cots, prams and mattresses, which are allocated according to individual need. Our Extended Support Service distributes grants and helps families navigate the support available to them; our free Create & Chat workshops provide struggling parents with a safe space to connect with others and our weekly Infant Feeding & Wellness sessions boost parenting confidence and supports physical resilience.

Why are we Fundraising 

We are fundraising to cover essential costs of running Mama to Mama and delivering our vital baby bank service. The heart of our charity is our warehouse: the space where we sort, store and redistribute the huge number of donations we receive from our generous community, we cannot function without it. We are therefore seeking funding to cover our warehouse overheads so that we can continue to make a difference to local families in need.
