Aim

Tewkesbury Cricket Club aim to improve the playing facilities after the extremely dry weather in the summer of 2025

Who are we?

Tewkesbury Cricket Club (TCC) is situated in the heart of the town and provides a community hub for its wide range of members. Throughout each summer, we are able to offer Cricket to the following:

  • 4 Saturday men's sides
  • 3 ladies teams (both hard ball and softball)
  • A range of competitive and friendly matches on Sundays
  • A high profile Tuesday evening T20 tournament
  • Junior opportunities from All stars to U15
  • A range of representative cricket - county boys, girls, ladies, disability and Army fixtures
  • A vast amount of social events open to the whole community

Why are we crowdfunding?

Being situated near the River Swilgate, TCC experience regular flooding and droughts which cause huge damage to the outfield and playing square.

We aim to spend our £30,000 of fundraising on improving the overall playing facilities

  • Installation of 3 hybrid pitches
  • Top soil and sand for levelling and repairing of the outfield
  • Consultation with grounds team professionals to offer specialist advice and support for our unique situation

By installing 3 hybrid pitches, it will allow TCCto host more fixtures and inspire more people to be active. In 2025 we were able to host our first disability fixture for Gloucestershire CCC which was a huge success.

The rapidly growing women's section have been able to use the ground at times, but are often forced to play at another ground due to the facilities being in use or being repaired for future games. The introduction of new pitches will allow the ladies teams to use TCC more regularly for both training and games.

How we’ll spend the money raised

With the money raised, we aim to spend:

  •  £24,000 on the installation of hybrid pitches and these will last around 8-10 years.
  • £3,000 on top soil and sand to level off the ground where flood damage has caused unevenness
  • £3,000 on fertiliser and seed in order to repair the damage of the 2025 dry summer

Community impact

This projects will benefit the community by allowing the ground to be in much more regular use throughout the week, rather than the usual weekend activity. At times, the outfield became unsafe in 2025 due to cracking from the dry weather and this impacted junior and all stars training sessions. We want to be able to offer cricket to all of our members, on every day of the week at TCC whilst maintaining the highest quality and safety for all.

We aim to branch out further than the direct Tewkesbury community in 2026 by hosting a range of junior county games (both boys and girls). As previously mentioned, we would also love to host more disability and County Women's cricket fixtures.

With more cricket being played, it acts as a social hub where people come to watch, support and socialise over a drink. In recent years, TCC has opened it gates to non-members, tourists of the town and local residents and the atmosphere has certainly become more welcoming.

How you can play your part
