Aim

COVID19 has created an uncertain landscape and led to a loss in income of nearly £20,000 for Tetbury Cricket Club, let's try and replace it

Who are we?

Tetbury Cricket Club is a local club in Gloucestershire. Established in 1850, the club has been around to see many things, but maybe nothing quite like COVID19.

The club has a number of senior teams playing on weekends and midweek, alongside a growing youth set up with teams entered for both boys and girls at U9, U11 and U13 levels.

Our aim is to encourage greater participation in cricket and to support our members from both a physical and social perspective. We are proud to deliver an inclusive and fun atmosphere in which to take part in this great sport.

We are continually looking to expand our teams at all levels, age groups and genders. And we do all of this through a small group of dedicated volunteers and it is fair to say we are blessed with some of the best people involved in local club cricket.

Impact of COVID19 – The club stands to lose nearly £20,000

Tetbury CC has always been financially self-sufficient, but the ongoing COVID19 crisis is having a big impact on our income. Nearly all our revenue is generated through matchday activity, the bar and social events during the summer. All of which until nearly the end of July we have lost, but our fixed costs (those we must pay irrespective) have continued to need to be paid.

By this time last year the club had generated income of nearly £20,000 and given we've had no cricket, the comparative timeframe this year it is closer to £200!

The loss of income could mean we have to scale back on some of our youth initiatives while we reconsolidate, unless we can change that through Crowdfunding!

The £20,000 target is reached will allow us to:

  • Continue to cover our remaining annual ‘fixed’ running costs
  • Replace the artificial wicket to enable more youth cricket matches to be played
  • Refurbish our pitch roller to improve the playing facilities for youth and seniors alike!

All of this is crucial in enabling the club to continue to provide cricket within the town to everyone who wants to participate.

How can you help us?

As a volunteer-run club, we need to generate donations from members, families, friends and the wider community to help us cover the shortfall.

You can donate however much you feel comfortable with; we are well aware that individuals have also been hit hard financially by the impact of COVID19 and everyone’s individual wellbeing is the priority here. However, if you can spare any money to donate, we would really welcome any and all support, big or small, and encourage people to consider donating.

If you do, then you can pick from one of our rewards as a gesture of thanks for supporting us in our time of need. Rewards you can pick from include:

  • Discount codes from a range of local businesses and restaurants
  • Free tickets or day passes to a variety of events
  • Bar tokens for events at the Clubhouse
  • Reduced membership fees in 2021
  • Reduced sponsorship rates in 2021
  • Homebaked cakes from our army of volunteers!

Finally, a practical point ....

If you do donate in one of the above ways, please could you put a note in the comments box to clarify what/who your donation covers, and what reward you would like to claim, or contact us via [email protected]
