Feature documentary TERF Island provides a much-needed loving anthology of trans lives in the UK. The film follows various trans people, allowing space for them to thrive in their own communities without requiring anything more from them. TERF Island also sits with the history of pathologising trans healthcare, and of an oppressive transphobic media and governments, providing comprehensive pushback against the anti-trans moral panic of the last decade.

Some of the groups featured in the documentary include @Cheap_dirty_horse, @Transkaters, @Tribe_incorporated, and @CAMPWrestling among others, with expert contributions from Trans Legal Clinic’s @OliviaCampbellCavendish, ecologist @Jazmeen Qureshi, journalists @WhatTheTrans and @shivscamp, and healthcare researcher Dr. Ruth Pearce. 

The need to provide spaces of care for trans communities are more essential than ever, and that is so rarely catered to on-screen. The fight against transphobia in the UK has never been more urgent. TERF Island provides both. 

What We're Crowdfunding For:- 

We are currently editing which has ongoing costs. But upcoming costs are significant to create the most beautiful and impactful finished film we possibly can, and in a timely manner. We need to raise funds for a few final shoots, continuing the editing process, for the composer we just signed onto the project, for sound mix/design, colour grading, licensing and legal clearance. Then we can really take a fantastic film to UK and worldwide audiences, with an accompanying impact campaign. Every donation and share will be so valuable and help keep us on target. If we reach our target, we should have surplus budget to plan a distribution and impact campaign strategy which will really help this film reach large audiences.

The Team:-

We’re an experienced all queer and trans crew. Our previous feature documentary was the award-winning March for Dignity, which screened at dozens of international film festivals, with worldwide theatrical screenings and global distribution. It is currently available to watch in the UK on Amazon Prime.
