Every 30 minutes someone in Wales is told that they have cancer.
And that’s before the realities of COVID-19 cut in. Since the pandemic began, 35,000 fewer people have been sent for tests. Consequently, hundreds and hundreds – an expected 3,500 people in Wales alone – are being told the news that they have cancer, and at a later stage than it would otherwise have been.
We can help, we really can be there for them, to ease the profound pressures people across Wales every day face due to cancer. We can resolve concerns, give emotional support, answer pressing questions – but the pandemic means we need new support to make it happen, too.
Be a Top 100 Company for Cancer Patients in Wales this Christmas!
Give to our By Your Side appeal, and the National Emergencies Trust will double your donation (up to maximum of £250)!
We are therefore looking for 100 companies across Wales to donate £100 each – reaching this target will see the Trust double the amount raised to £20,000! And where will the money go? It will stay here in Wales, used to help people for whom 2022 is the year they are diagnosed with cancer. It will be a part of a lifeline for them when they don’t know who or where to turn.
With cancer, we all need someone to lean on, someone who understands.
Dealing with cancer can be frightening and stressful. We can help. We bring treatment, expert advice, and support to where it matters most, the heart of the community. This includes our nurse-led, free cancer our Callback service, working alongside Local Health Boards to provide a series of calls at key points during treatment. We answer all types of questions about the disease, or simply things people might not feel comfortable sharing with their family or loved ones We also run our unique, technically advanced welcoming Mobile Cancer Support Units, which mean patients receive their chemotherapy and immunotherapy closer to home in a warm and welcoming environment. There is much more.
The demand for our services is rapidly increasing, and to help more of those who need us we urgently need to increase the number of hours our cancer support specialists can provide. To do this, we need your support to ensure we can reach as many people in Wales as possible, to be by their side when they need it more than they ever have before.
