Geek Alert! I hope to launch Newcastle’s only dedicated sci-fi themed bar and restaurant venue, Based on “Ten Forward ” from Star Trek TNG.
In 1966, an unknown, former World War II US Air Force pilot and Los Angeles police officer had a vision of a utopian future. A society, which was free of poverty, starvation and everyone worked together for the benefit of all. One, where humans have taken those first tentative steps to explore the galaxy and seek out new life and new civilisations. To do this, humans travelled aboard interstellar starships, warping through space, at faster than light speeds. The crew of these starships were part of an organisation called Starfleet and encountered a wondrous diversity of beings from many different worlds, scattered across the cosmos. His name……….....Gene Rodenberry.
His vision spawned one of the most successful sci-fi franchises of all time – Star Trek. Of course, the world of Star Trek is totally fictitious, however, the technology featured in the show, and subsequent incarnations, have become modern necessities, taken for granted – automatic doors, computers, wireless communication, and touch screens, to name but a few. Perhaps, his most famous and most well known creation was the Federation Starship Enterprise. Aboard the Enterprise was a designated area devoted to visitors, the crew and their families. A space which promoted relaxation, and a place for social interaction with a few drinks or a meal or have that romantic liaison.
To celebrate Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary on September 8th 2016, I hope to launch Newcastle’s only dedicated sci-fi themed bar and restaurant venue. Based, primarily on the bar “Ten Forward ” from the popular television show, it is not intended that Ten Forward caters only to Star Trek fans, but also, to fans of other genres, movies and TV shows, such as, Star Wars, Mavel & DC Comic franchises, Dr Who, etc.
Preferably, located in central Newcastle, Ten Forward will be housed in premises already adapted for use as a bar/restaurant, and/or can be easily re-modelled to act as such and reflect the theme of “Ten Forward ” as depicted in Star Trek TNG and other Sci-Fi themes within different areas of the premises. These premises will also be used as Ten Forward’s registered trading address. Our registered trading name will be “Ten Forward Bar and Restaurant Ltd”. A search of the UK Companies House database has revealed that this proposed name is acceptable.
Ten Forward Bar and Restaurant will be like no other bar/restaurant in Newcastle City Centre.
Serving from late morning till early evening, customers will be invited to sample the culinary delights from far flung “worlds” such as Vulcan, Cardassia, Bajor, Risa, Romulus, Ferengana, Andoria and the Klingon Home World, as well as staples from Planet Earth, in an ambience depicting “Ten Forward ”. Ten Forward will also offer, as part of the menu, “Worf’s Battle Challenge”, a selection of dishs; challenges; each one more difficult than the one before. Only the most bravest of diners will have the courage to attempt! Customers who successfully complete the challenge(s) will be rewarded with money off vouchers, VIP passes, collar rank pips, a ranking on "The Klingon Honour Roll", and other freebies.
During the day and early evening, it is hoped that Ten Forward will have a family atmosphere, after all what child doesn’t like dressing up as their favourite super hero; but after dark, Ten Forward will be the place to be, a place where customers can “escape reality”. An environment in which they can immerse themselves in their Sci-Fi experience. Customers can come “dressed up” as their favorite characters from the big or small screen, and indeed, are encouraged to do so, Ten Forward’s staff will be! They can have a drink, have a bite to eat, socialise, and dance the night away, all in a warm, friendly, and safe environment.....
