Aim

Winter Sports Programme for Young People: Building Skills, Fitness, and Community

Who are we?

We are Tempo Maguires GAC, a dedicated GAA club committed to fostering talent, teamwork, and inclusion in our local community. For years, we’ve worked to provide opportunities for young people to enjoy and excel in sports while building friendships and life skills. Our team of passionate coaches and volunteers shares a vision of using sport as a vehicle for empowerment and community connection.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re crowdfunding to launch a NEW Winter Sports Programme for young people aged 8–18, including basketball, Gaelic games, athletic development, and circuit training. The rising cost of living has made it difficult for families to access extracurricular activities, and we want to remove those barriers by offering transport, subsidies, and inclusive sessions.

We’re applying for Sport NI’s match-funding programme to get £5,000, but we need your help to make this project a reality. This initiative meets Sport NI’s “Levelling the Playing Field” criteria by targeting disadvantaged groups and fostering inclusivity in sports.

Community impact

Our programme will make a lasting impact by:

  • Encouraging children from rural, disadvantaged, and ethnically diverse communities to participate in sports.
  • Creating a welcoming space for young people with disabilities.
  • Promoting physical and mental well-being through regular exercise.
  • Strengthening community ties and developing local leaders through volunteer training.

Our facilities will not only support young athletes but also provide a space for community events, ensuring broader benefits for the area.
