Aim

Creating a greener, modern sports hub at Tempo Maguires GAC with clean energy, better facilities, and a lasting community legacy.

Project Title: Tempo Maguires GAC is Going 'Green'

Introduction:

Welcome to Going Green, a transformative initiative by Tempo Maguires GAC as part of the GAA's Green Club programme! We are a passionate team of community members dedicated to creating a sustainable, modern, and welcoming community hub that benefits our club members, local residents, and the environment.

We have made massive steps in recent times to make our club greener and more sustainable. We have installed low energy LED floodlighting at our pitches and installed Solar Panels with battery storage to generate electricity onsite.

Now we are trying to go further…modernising our facilities, increasing the number of people involved in our club and eliminating carbon emissions…but we need your help to make it happen.

Thanks to support from the Aviva Community Fund and the Sport NI Olympic Legacy Fund, every pound you donate will be matched and multiplied, giving us the chance to make an even bigger impact.

About Us:

Tempo Maguires GAC is at the heart of our community in County Fermanagh. For generations, our club has brought people together through Gaelic games — from our youngest players taking their first steps in sport, to senior teams competing at county level. We are more than a sports club; we are a family, a social hub, and a place where friendships, skills, and community spirit thrive.

Our team comprises enthusiastic individuals from across our club and community, united by a common goal – to make a lasting positive impact on our people and our planet. From environmental activists to volunteers and coaches, we bring diverse skills and perspectives to ensure a well-rounded approach to this exciting project.

Vision:

Our vision is simple but ambitious: to create a community hub that not only serves as a centre for sport and recreation, but also stands as a model for sustainability and innovation. We want Tempo Maguires GAC to inspire others by showing how a rural sports club can embrace green energy, modern facilities, and community legacy in one joined-up project.

OUR GREEN INITIATIVES SO FAR:

Low Energy LED Floodlighting

  • Installed low energy LED floodlights at our main playing pitch and our training pitches – ensuring carbon emissions are kept to a minimum and the standard of lighting is the highest standard possible.

Solar PV Panels for Clean Energy:

  • Installed solar PV panels to generate clean and renewable electricity for our community hub, including our floodlights and the electric mower.

Maximizing Energy Usage with Battery Storage and Hot Water Diverters:

  • Implementing battery storage systems and hot water diverters to maximize the utilization of self-generated electricity, reducing our dependence on conventional fossil fuel energy sources.

Fast Charging EV Charging Points:

  • We are in the final stages of installing two fast-charging Electric Vehicle (EV) points to encourage the community to transition to electric vehicles, contributing to a cleaner and greener transportation ecosystem.

WHAT IS PLANNED IN THIS PROJECT?

Despite the recent progress, we have much more to do to make our facilities modern and fit for purpose and further eliminate carbon emissions. Find out more about we plan to do below, and ways in which you can help us achieve these goals.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our facilities are showing their age. The wooden benches that supporters sit on are worn and unsafe, and our old manual scoreboard is difficult to use and doesn’t provide the best experience for players or spectators. We still use diesel mowers to cut the grass, which is costly, bad for the environment and outdated. To give our members and supporters the facilities they deserve and to further enhance our role promoting environmental sustainability, we aim to:

Installation of New Seating in the Spectator Stand (Sport NI funding)

  • Replacing wooden benches with modern, durable plastic bucket seats made from recycled materials for safety, comfort, and accessibility.

Installation of a new LED video scoreboard (Sport NI funding)

  • Upgrade to an LED video scoreboard to bring our match days into the modern era using the latest in energy efficient technology to keep running costs down as well as carbon emissions.

Electric Pitch Mower (Aviva Community Fund)

  • Replacing diesel-powered mowing with a greener robotic mower to maintain our pitches. This will improve the standard of our playing pitches, eliminate 6 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, reduce our operating costs and best of all, they will be powered by 100% renewable electricity generated on site.

How You Can Help:

We are reaching out to our community and beyond to seek your support in making our Going Green project a reality. Every donation you make will be match-funded by Aviva and Sport NI, stretching your £100 donation to benefit us by the tune of £385.

Sponsor a Seat – Leave Your Legacy

As part of our effort to replace the old wooden benches in the stand with durable, modern plastic bucket seats, we’re launching a special "Sponsor a Seat" campaign.

🔹 £100 per seat
🔹 Your name (or that of a loved one, family member, or local business) will be displayed on a commemorative board at the stand.
🔹 A unique way to support your club — and be part of its legacy for years to come!

Whether you're a lifelong supporter, a player past or present, or simply someone who loves what the club stands for, this is your chance to make a lasting mark on Tempo Maguires GAC.

How Match Funding Works

  • Sport NI’s Olympic Legacy Fund will contribute 65% of the total project cost, if we raise the remaining 35% through crowdfunding (up to £32,500). In toher words, if you donate £100, Sport NI will match it with £185.
  • Aviva's Community Fund will match every individual donation up to £250 (up to £50,000).

How we’ll spend the money raised from Sport NI

Through this Crowdfunder campaign, we aim to raise £17,500 from our community. Sport NI will then contribute the remaining £32,500 through the Olympic Legacy Fund, with a further £17,500 being matched by the Aviva Community Fund.

We are being fully transparent about how the funds will be used:

  • New plastic spectator seats – £18,500
  • LED video scoreboard – £31,500
  • Total Sport NI Project Cost – £50,000

We will also use the additional £17,500 from the Aviva Community Fund to purchase robotic electric mowing system to maintain our two pitches, eliminating diesel use and cutting emissions.

Why are we crowdfunding?

A group of girls football team AI-generated content may be incorrect.

Our facilities are showing their age and are costly to maintain. Wooden benches in the stand are uncomfortable and deteriorating, our old scoreboard is no longer fit for purpose, and mowing two grass pitches with diesel machinery is expensive and carbon-heavy.

We want to tackle both challenges at once: improve the spectator and player experience, while reducing our environmental footprint.

Your generous contributions will directly fund these initiatives, bringing us one step closer to creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious community hub. It will also modernise our facilities, encouraging people to engage in sport and physical activity

Join Us on the Journey:

By supporting our Going Green project, you're not just contributing to a project; you're becoming a part of a movement towards a greener and more sustainable future. Together, let's make our community hub a shining example of environmental stewardship.

How will our project leave a community legacy?

Our project combines climate action and sporting legacy:

  • Climate benefits – electric mowing reduces fossil fuel use; LED scoreboard is energy efficient; modern equipment reduces waste and long-term carbon costs
  • Sporting benefits – modern, safe seating improves comfort and accessibility; new scoreboard enhances match experience; better facilities attract more players, volunteers and supporters
  • Community benefits – a greener, more welcoming hub that inspires pride and participation, and sets an example for others to follow

Community impact

This project is not just about sport — it’s about people. By modernising our facilities, we will:

  • Provide safe, accessible seating for supporters of all ages, especially older members and families.
  • Create a better match-day experience for players, fans, and visitors from across Fermanagh and beyond.
  • Strengthen our ability to host community and county-level events, bringing people together.
  • Leave a lasting legacy for future generations of Tempo Maguires players and supporters.

Together, we can make our club a shining example of green energy and lasting sporting legacy.

Our facilities are regularly used for training, matches, school programmes, and wider community events. By investing in them, we ensure Tempo remains a vibrant hub of activity, health, and social connection.

How you can play your part

You can help us achieve this project in three ways:

  • Make a donation – every pound counts, and with Sport NI’s support, your donation goes even further.
  • Claim a reward – choose from exclusive rewards like club merchandise, discounted community rewards or sponsor a seat for £100.
  • Spread the word – share our campaign with friends, family, and on social media. The more people that hear about our project, the faster we’ll reach our goal.

Together, we can build facilities that reflect the pride we have in our club, our community, our environment, and our future.

👉 Please donate now – we only have 6 weeks to make the most of this incredible opportunity!
