This project is to raise funding to resurface a well used, but neglected running track.

Who are we?

We are the running community of East Leeds.   Crossgates Harriers and St. Theresa's Athletic Club  see this amenity as a real benefit to the running community but also young people learning to ride a bicycle and taking a run in a safe environment.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The full monies gained by this crowdfunding project will pay for a contractor to resurface the track which is currently full of potholes and weeds.  Volunteers have cleared much of the extra soil and weeds from the surface.  Making the surface look better but still potholed.

The local running clubs are voluntary groups and non profit making.  We have very limited funds and certainly not to resurface the track.  We have full support from the local authority (Leeds City Council) who have assisted us in some resources and we work as a partnership.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every penny raised will contribute towards resurfacing the track.  We have sought quotes from a number of contractors and chosen the best in terms of value (price) and experience.

Community impact

This will have a huge boost to the local community.  Not only the serious runners, but general people who want to improve their health in an outdoor safe environment.  Particularly those who are undertaking the 'Couch to 5k' from the NHS app.  Running is a very inclusive sport. Young children can learn to ride bicycles on a flat and vehicle free environment to boost their confidence. But much more than this.  Because this is volunteer led, there is a huge sense of empowerment and ownership of the full project.  And therefore likely to succeed in the longer term.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
