TEIGNMOUTH RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB NEEDS YOU - The Pandemic has affected all of us. Our Club is a huge part of our community. LETS FIGHT TO KEEP THE CLUB ALIVE
The aim of The Triple Crown Appeal:
We have teamed up with Crowdfunder and Sport England to bring you this rescue campaign for our club. We need to raise a minimum of £12,000 (from a minimum of 100 donations). If we do this Sport England will match fund 40% (£8,000). This will give us our first target of £20,000. After we have reached our initial target we will move on to our stretch target of £40,000 which if achieved would really secure the long term future of our club.
This has to be a real Community effort because the initial target of £20,000 is an "ALL OR NOTHING" appeal. Meaning, if we fail to reach this target by our deadline date of 29th March 2021 all donations will be returned.
We understand that for many, things are not easy at the moment, so we ask 3 things to score a TRY:
1. Share, comment and like this with others via all of your social media sites - lets see if we can really raise the profile of what we need to achieve.
2. Donate if you can, using the donate button. Remember if you give £6 and we meet our match funding criteria that becomes £10.
3. If you cannot donate money but can donate a reward this is just as good to us as money.
After the TRY there are another 2 things to do to make sure the CONVERSION goes sailing between the posts:
1. Tick the GIFT AID box, it's important as it means we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate.
2. Comment and leave your message of support on this page to convince others who visit the site to get involved.
We have added some fantastic rewards to say "Thank you" for your donation, however the biggest reason to donate is to make sure that Teignmouth Rugby Football Club is there as a part of our community long after we have all gone.
The Triple Crown Appeal - is a play on words. The Triple Crown in Rugby is an honour contested annually by the "Home Nations". If any one of the teams defeats all three other teams, they win the Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown Appeal has been set up to support Teignmouth Rugby Football Club survive through this Pandemic and beyond.
The "triple" aim of this appeal to "crown" its success are:
Why:
Today we are living in unprecedented times and the Pandemic has affected everyone's lives in different ways. Teignmouth Rugby Football Club has been closed since March 2020 and is not expected to reopen until September 2021 at the earliest. No games means no revenue. Despite no revenue the club has fixed costs it has to meet; ground rent, insurance, utility bills, along with the maintenance of the ground and clubhouse. We have secured Covid loans and grants as and when we could and this has helped but the honest answer is we are in a perilous predicament and to allow us to survive and thrive we need your help.
Who we are:
One of the oldest clubs in the South West, Teignmouth Rugby Football Club has been an active part of the local community for nearly 150 years.
The Club runs 2 senior men's teams, a senior women’s team, men’s Colts and women’s U18s, as well as 11 junior and minis teams for both boys and girls. In any usual week, we have 60 adults and close to 150 children training during the week and playing on the weekend. When you combine this with the ex-players, supporters, mums, dads, grandparents and non-playing siblings, you can see what a huge asset the club is to the community. It must be protected and preserved for the benefit of the town and surrounding area.
What we do:
Teignmouth Rugby Football Club continues to contribute to the health, wellbeing pride and legacy of our community. Sitting at the heart of Teignmouth, in its unique setting alongside the River Teign, it has been instrumental in developing talent and inspiring those young and old alike to get involved.
Its produced superstars like Jim Fallon, who went on to play Rugby league at the top level with Leeds Rhino's and Max Norey, a promising young hooker who has come through the Exeter academy and is now making his presence felt in the senior sides. But by far our highest profile achievers are the Simmonds brothers. Sam Simmonds, who has already tasted success at international level and was European player of the year last season and Joe Simmonds MBE, who is the youngest player to captain the Chiefs and can't be far off international recognition. Both products of Teignmouth Rugby Football Club and how proud we all were last season to see them lift the European Cup and the Premiership Trophy over consecutive weekends.
Probably more importantly the club has brought hundreds of youngsters off the streets into a protective environment and taught them valuable life lessons. How to integrate together. How to work as part of a team. The friendships that these people make last a lifetime and bring great memories in later life.
Message from Chairman
"These are incredibly difficult times for everybody and nothing is more important than keeping people safe from this terrible virus but it doesn’t mean we have to be pessimistic about the future. The same applies to our beloved Teignmouth rugby club. Team Management and the Coaches have made every effort to train our players when permitted to keep them fit and healthy. The Club Committee has gone to great efforts to protect our current facilities, maintain the grounds, reduce costs wherever possible and make us ready to re-open as soon as we can. Rugby will return but we need the funds to ensure this happens. We have to ensure we can cover our running costs, our lease needs to be renewed which requires multiple inspections and repairs and alongside this we have a main stand in desperate need of structural improvements including a new roof. Please help us secure the club’s long term future and donate what you can to the Triple Crown Appeal. Thank you on behalf of everyone involved in the club."
